Sunny Beach First Impressions

Living in the Netherlands means a long wait for winter closure which actually never happens. The need of sun, warmth on the skin and diving into water grows every day.
Bulgaria was our budget destination with clear goals in mind: relax in the beach, reading, resting, relaxing, eating and enjoying each other.

Day one meant travelling to Schiphol Airport by car leaving home at 5 a.m. in the morning. You won't mind sleeping 3 or 4 hours when the urge to enjoy is so big.
From up in the plain Bulgaria is a Nature country, with small villages apart from each other. The sun felt immediately different and started burning, in a good way, our skins. Bus from travelling agency would take us to Sunny Beach.

This area of Bulgaria is a reflection of Southern European countries. A permanent set of local business trying to please tourists in a very innocent and cosy way. Houses were not impressive but offered local snacks, beer and ice creams. Road boards advertise water parks, clubs and bigger restaurants.
Sunny beach is a maze of roads of a unpredictable and fast build of hotels and restaurants. May sound uninteresting but day by day it becomes familiar and very friendly.
The smell of grilled food and fresh vegetables and fruits everywhere offered us what we wanted exactly to have from this vacations.

First contact with the beach was intense, as the view is amazing and so peaceful at the end of the afternoon. We knew immediately that our reward was truly amazing.
